Abstract
952,148. Cathode-ray tubes. BENDIX CORPORATION. July 17, 1962 [Aug. 18, 1961], No. 27476/62. Addition to 950,640. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray tube comprises an electron multiplier array 16, of a kind described and claimed in the parent Specification, positioned behind the screen 14 of the tube. As shown, the multiplier array comprises bismuth-lead oxide glass tubes, of 0.001 inch inside diameter, and 0.050 inch length, fused together and having their inner surfaces reduced in hydrogen to render them resistive and secondary electronemissive. The ends of the array are coated with silver and connected across an accelerating voltage. The array may be used behind the phosphor screen of a display tube or behind the storage target of a direct-viewing storage tube. The pressure in the tube may be 10<SP>-6</SP> mm. of Hg.
