Abstract
519,111. Cathode-ray tubes. PYE, Ltd., and LIEBMANN, G. June 9, 1938, No. 17152. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode-ray tube having an apertured modulating electrode in front of an emissive cathode the diameter of the aperture in the electrode is not greater than 1 mm., and if this diameter is a the distance from the emissive surface from the further face of the apertured electrode is less than a and preferably about a/2. A further apertured electrode may be spaced at a distance of approximately a from the modulating electrode, and the diameter of the aperture in this electrode is about 2a, and the thickness of this electrode is about a/2, that of the modulating electrode being about a/4. A further electrode may be situated at a distance of about 10a from the second. Numerical examples are given. The construction and arrangement of the electrodes, apart from the particular ratios set forth, are the same as those described in Specification 503,074. Specification 503,125 also is referred to.
