Abstract
461,450. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JESTY, L. C. Nov. 13, 1935, No. 31418. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube comprises a conducting electrostatic, shield surrounding and integral with the tube, and a magnetic shield of material of high permeability rigidly fixed to the electrostatic shield and shielding the path of the ray but not completely surrounding it. The magnetic shield material may be a nickel-iron alloy having a permeability greatly exceeding that of iron. As shown, the electrostatic shield 5 is arranged about the tube as described in Specification 425,493 and the magnetic shield 17 is rigidly attached to its inside wall so as to surround the ray in its region of low velocity between the cathode 19 and the final accelerator 20.
