Abstract

473,893. Cathode - ray tubes. ZEITLINE, V., ZEITLINE, A., and KLIATCHKO, V. April 18, 1936, No. 11190. Convention date, April 19, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] The electrostatic deflection system comprises a two-part metallic structure pervious to electrons, the outer part being maintained at a constant potential and the inner part at a different potential so that a deflecting field is produced. The two parts may be prismshaped, and made of mesh or net. As shown, the part 19a, 19b, 19c is connected to a deflecting plate 4 which is at a constant potential. The plate 5 may receive the variable deflection voltage and the part 20 a constant deflection voltage or vice versa. Two triangular prisms may replace entirely two pairs of deflectionplates, or rectangular prisms may be employed. The interior parts of a compound prism may receive different voltages. One deflection prism may be located entirely inside the prism producing the other deflection. The two parts may consist of parallel wires, those of one part being perpendicular to those of the other part. The deflection voltage and distance may be such that the distance is proportional to time.
