Abstract
497,808. Cathode-ray tubes. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., and ROGOWSKI, W. Aug. 25, 1937, No. 23336. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In a Braun tube in which the light intensity is controlled by electrostatic deflection with respect to a diaphragm, the deflecting plates are enclosed in a screening chamber biassed to a definite potential, one plate only being maintained at the potential of the chamber. The beam which passes through the aperture 2 of the diaphragm 1 falls upon a fluorescent screen 3 and the light intensity is controlled by deflecting the electron beam relatively to the aperture 2 by means of the plates 4. To prevent deformation of the beam by the plate potentials, the plates are mounted in a screening chamber 5, provided with apertured end plates, and connected to a desired biassing potential, one plate 4 being connected to the screening chamber, either by a conductor 14 within the chamber or outside it.
