417,713. Cathode-ray tubes. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and SCHLESINGER, K., 39, Friedrichstrasse, Friedrichshagen, both in Berlin. March 9, 1933, No. 18360/34. Convention date, March 10, 1932. Divided out of 417,850. [Class 39 (i).] To produce on the screen a light spot the size and shape of which remains constant, the tube is provided with an electron-optical system which comprises an apertured electrode 4 fitted with a tubular abutment 5 the diameter of which is greater than that of the aperture 16, and an apertured electrode 6 located between the electrode 4 and the fluorescent screen 10, both of said electrodes being given potentials which are constant but different from each other. The potential on the electrode 4 may be equal to 250 to 400 and that on the electrode 6 equal to 1500 to 4000 and they may be adjusted to obtain any desired cross-section of the ray or to reproduce the shape of the emissive surface on the screen. The filling may consist of argon or hydrogen at a pressure of 10-<3> mms. and the pressure may be maintained by a getter or by a substance, such as a hydride, which generates hydrogen. A silver coating 9 may be connected to the electrode 6.
