417,714. Cathode-ray tubes. RADIOAKT.-GES., D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and SCHLESINGER, K., 39, Friedrichstrasse, Friedrichshagen, both in Berlin. March 9, 1933, No. 18361/34. Convention date, May 14, 1932. Divided out of 417,850 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 11, 1933. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i).] A Braun tube is provided with a cathode which is formed by vaporizing an electronemitting metal such as barium on to a core, such as a tungsten wire which is superficially oxidized, the said cathode being arranged in a casing which is closed with the exception of an opening for the ray. The cathode may be arranged within a cylinder which is closed at one end by an insulating plate and at the other end by an apertured metal plate. The cylinder may be used for controlling purposes or be given a positive bias to serve as a screen, and the Wehnelt cylinder may surround it or be located between it and the anode. The walls of the cylinder may be coated with the metal which is to be vaporized. The cathode may be directly or indirectly heated, and may consist of an oxide of an alkaline earth metal coated with an electron-emitting metal, or of a core of electron-emitting metal coated with oxide.
