Abstract
538,021. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 12, 1940, No. 749. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1939. [Class 39 (i)] The modulating electrode of a Braun tube is situated next to the cathode and is positively biased with respect thereto, the beam is concentrated by a negatively biased electrode and focused by a tubular anode of the usual type. It is stated that the arrangement may be such that the displacement of the focus due to the changes in potential of the modulating electrode compensate for the departure from linearity of the relation of the cathode emission to the modulating anode voltage. The cathode 19 may be of the indirectly heated type and surrounded by a screen 20 to diminish the emission of electrons to the positively biased control electrode 12. Between the electrode 12 and the tubular anode 14 is the negatively biased electrode 13. An example of dimensions and voltage is given.
