Abstract

422,041. Cathode-ray tubes; television. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and SCHLESINGER, K., 39, Friedrichstrasse, Friedrichshagen, both in Berlin. April 3, 1933, No. 25278 /34. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1932. Divided out of and addition to 420,667 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 5, 1933. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] In Braun tubes as described in the parent Specification in which an aperture in an electrode 3 is reproduced on the picture screen by an electron-optical system consisting of a cylinder 4 and an apertured plate 5, the potential of the cylinder 4 is varied in rhythm with the potential of the electrode 2 controlling the intensity of the ray primarily by space-charge control. Sharp focusing is thus retained even with ray currents above 1 milliamp. The potential variations on the electrodes 2, 4 are out of phase if the tube is filled with gas at a pressure of the order of 10-<3>mm. up to 5.10<-3>mm., but are in phase if the tube contains residual gas at very low pressure. These potential variations are inversely proportional to the sensitivity of the electrodes 2, 4. The variations on the electrode 4 may be as great as or greater than those on the electrode 2. The electrodes 2 .. 5 are biassed through resistances 1, 7 .. 10 and the intensity control 11 is applied through condensers 12, 14 and a potentiometer 13.
