Abstract
426,706. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. July 4, 1933, No. 18998. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 5, 1934]. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube has means for accelerating the beam in stages and means for modulating its intensity by the cut-off method, wherein the beam is varied relatively to an apertured electrode so that more or less of the beam is cut off. The tube shown has an anode 1 at a low potential, electrodes 2, 3, modulating the cut-off at an apertured electrode 4, directioncorrecting electrodes 5, 6, and an anode 9 at a high potential. The arrangement should be such that the field due to the anode 9 does not affect the beam while it passes at low speed through the electrodes 2-6; for this purpose an anode 1a at a low potential, and having a smaller aperture than that in the anode 9, may be placed in front of the anode 9. An annular coil 10, producing a magnetic field, may be provided for correcting manufacturing errors, and a magnetic screen may be interposed between the coil 10 and the scanning coils 7, 8.
