399,160. Television receivers; cathode-ray tubes. ARDENNE, M. VON, 19, Jungfernstieg, Lichterfelde, Berlin. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 17331/33. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1930. Divided on 396,051. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii).] The cathode-ray of a Braun tube in a television receiver is concentrated by a negatively biased Wehnelt cylinder, is controlled in its intensity by one or two ray-deflecting electrodes and a co-operating gap in a rayintercepting screen and is then concentrated and centralized by an electric field, preferably due to a further Wehnelt cylinder, before passing to the deflecting plates producing picture scanning. The deflecting electrode of the intensity control may be biased through a resistance from a potentiometer which also provides bias for the centralizing electrode. The apparatus described is the same as that described in Specification 396,051 as open to inspection under Sect. 91.
