Abstract

1,026,843. Image converter tubes. RAULAND CORPORATION. Jan. 24, 1963 [Jan. 24, 1962], No. 2989/63. Heading H1D. An image converter tube, in particular for the conversion of X-rays, in which the spherical photo-cathode 19 and the anode 16 form together the principal focusing system of the tube, has the anode 16 formed as a planar structure with the cathode-anode spacing not greater than 2R 1 and the transverse dimension of the anode within the range d 1 to 2R 1 , where R 1 is the cathode radius of curvature and d 1 the diameter of the viewing screen 15. The conductive layer 18 may or may not be provided. Preferred values for the ratios of the various dimensions and also specific values for these dimensions are given. The photocathode may be constructed of a succession of contiguous spherical sections decreasing in radius with distance from the tube axis.
