961,939. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN A.G. Aug. 2, 1960 [July 30, 1959], No. 26646/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1D. In a post-deflection-acceleration cathode-ray tube with an electrostatic deflection system the post-deflection-accelerating field set up by a helical conductor conforming to the shape of the envelope penetrates the deflecting field but is arranged to be, in the absence of the deflecting field, homogeneous in the axial direction, i.e. has a uniform potential gradient along the tube axis, in this region. The helical conductor is a coating of resistance material of uniform resistance and constant pitch extending into the tube neck where the deflecting system is wholly contained within the tube neck, or of increasing resistance or decreasing pitch adjacent and towards the deflecting system, being entirely confined to the bulbous portion of the tube envelope, where the deflecting system extends into the bulbous portion.
