Abstract
782,835. Cathode-ray tubes. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd. Nov. 16, 1955 [Oct. 18, 1954], No. 29913/54. Class 39(1). A deflating electrode is supported by being located on surfaces of a hollow insulating body encompassing and having a substantially equal axial length with the electrode, the body itself fitting accurately within a tubular member (which may be the envelope neck) which serves to support other electron beam forming electrodes. The hollow cylindrical insulator 1, Fig. 1, has projecting lugs 2 at the ends with locating faces 3. The deflecting plates 4 are mounted in the insulator with their outer surfaces coplanar with faces 3 and are secured by rods 5 welded across them ; or parts of the plates themselves may pass over faces 3. In another form the insulator has ribs, Fig. 2a, projecting internally and at each end and the plates 9 are fixed to their inner faces, as by screws. Where there are two sets of plates they may be accurately aligned at right angles by a spacer 14, Fig. 3, having properly spaced lugs 15, 16 engaging the lugs 17, 18 on the hollow insulators. The hollow insulator may fit into the envelope neck or into a metal tube carrying the gun electrodes as in Specification 763,951. Metal spacers may then separate the insulators from each other and from the preceding anode, Fig. 4 (not shown).
