Abstract
1,223,723. Colour television tubes. SIEMENS A.G. 26 June, 1968 [27 June, 1967], No. 30588/68. Heading H1D. In a flat cathode-ray tube for displaying colour television, the electron beam is injected obliquely into a space between a reflecting electrode 15 and a high potential screen grid 3 to reach a colour switching electrode 20 of the Venetian blind type at a constant angle of 45 degrees and pass through it on to the colour screen 21. Electrons from the gun 1 pass through separate lenses 4 and 5 for focusing in two orthogonal directions and through a frame-scanning means 6; the beam is deflected by 90 and 135 degrees respectively by electrodes 9 and 10 co-operating with a common electrode 11, and passes through collimating slots 7 and 8 and is scanned in the line direction between extreme points 18 and 19 by a sawtooth voltage applied between electrodes 3 and 15. The strips forming electrode 20 may be inclined at 45 degrees to the plane of the screen 21 and may be secured together by fine wires (28, Fig. 2, not shown) to prevent mechanical vibration.
