Abstract

1334492 Electron guns WATKINS-JOHNSON CO 2 June 1972 [3 June 1971] 25912/72 Heading H1D An electron gun comprises a cathode 33 having an emissive surface 35, a control electrode 37 having an outwardly extending surface 39 which at the centre terminates near to surface 35, a first anode 41 which co-operates with electrode 37 to produce a collimated electron beam from surface 35 which is then defocused, accelerated by electrode 47 and then refocused by electrode 47 in co-operation with a conductive layer 49 on the interior of the tube. The gun may be used in display tubes, camera tubes or storage tubes. Additional focusing may be provided magnetically.
