Abstract
597,947. Cathode-ray tubes. POSTLETHWAITE, F. April 5, 1945, No. 8398. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A multiple cathode-ray oscillograph comprises a single envelope 1, in the one end of which is mounted a number of cathode-ray guns 4 between mica supports 5, and the other end of which carries a fluorescent screen 2. The guns are disposed in banks parallel to the axis and are staggered, Fig. 2 (not shown), and constant deflecting means 8 are provided so that the beams from all the guns form traces spaced along a diametrical line on the screen, while the traces are projected by a lens 9 within or adjacent the rear end of the tube on to a recording device such as a photographic strip, Fig. 5 (not shown). In another arrangement, the guns are disposed in a circle round the axis of the envelope and are inclined to bring the cathode rays to spaced spots on a diametrical line of the screen. Timed flashes may be produced through the screen end of the tube to form time or other reference markings on the record.
