Abstract

1392480 Cathode-ray tubes HITACHI Ltd 29 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 55078/72 Heading H1D A cathode-ray tube of the post-acceleration type is provided with a secondary-election collector constructed, e.g. perforated or made of mesh, to transmit a portion of the secondary electrons. In the shadow-mask tube shown (Fig. 1), an accelerating electrode 8 is formed on the inside of the funnel 2 and a shield electrode 9 is situated behind the shadow mask 5. The electrode 9 functions to shield the beam from external influences and is usually coated with a material which prevents generation of secondary electrons. According to the invention, the electrode 9 is constucted so that some of the secondary electrons generated, e.g. by the shadow mask 5 are transmitted to the coating 8. It is stated that a reduction in secondary electron generation is obtained. The oscilloscope of Fig. 4 is provided with a helical electrode 17 and a perforated collector electrode 15, and an accelerator electrode 16.
