Abstract

1377091 Electron lenses HITACHI Ltd 26 Jan 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 3774/72 Heading H1D The main focusing lens in a cathode-ray tube is formed by the combination of a unipotential lens and a bipotential lens. In Fig. 2 the first three electrodes P1-P3 form the unipotential lens L u and the third and fourth electrodes P3 and P4 form the bipotential lens L B . Electrodes P1 and P3 are connected together to a high potential source E a whilst electrodes P2 and P4 may be connected to a common medium potential source E b or may be connected to separate medium potential sources (Fig. 3, not shown). In modifications (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the first two electrodes form the lens L B and electrodes P2-P4 form the unipotential lens L u .
