Abstract

1404787 Electron guns TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 16 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47579/72 Heading H1D An in line triple electron gun assembly comprises three guns each formed of cathode 13, plane grid electrode 14, cylindrical grid electrodes 15 to 17 and two support members 19 each consisting of a lateral component fused to at least cathode 13 and plane grid electrode 14 of each gun and at least one longitudinal component extending axially and associated with a respective gun and fitted to the respective remaining electrodes, a convergence magnetic assembly 18 being positioned forward of the three guns. Support 19 may be of glass and each support includes only one longitudinal component in Fig. 5 (not shown). Cathode 13 consists of a heater in funnel-shaped support member 20, plane gridel ectrodes 14 at sides and centre are as in Figs. 3 and 4 respectively (not shown) and supported as in Fig. 2 (not shown) via holders (23), (25). The Fig. 5 embodiment (not shown), includes lateral components (31) to (34) and a single longitudinal component (35). Focusing by adjustment of an external magnetic field is mentioned.
