Abstract
380,859. Cathode-ray tubes ; television. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc., 195, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Johnson, J. B. ; 57, Elm Street, Maplewood, New Jersey, U.S.A.) June 29, 1931, No. 18767. Convention date, July 7, 1930. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii).] A cathode-ray tube in which a beam of electrons traverses a screen, has one or two control electrodes disposed between the anode and screen and receiving signalling potentials so as to modulate the beam. The tube may be used for producing television images. The tube shown has a cathode 2, an anode 4, two pairs of deflecting plates 5, 6, a screen 9, and two control electrodes 7, 8 formed as grids or perforated discs of segmental spherical shape the centre of curvature of which is at the deflecting plates. The grid 7 is connected directly with the anode and through the secondary of a transformer 15 with the grid 8. The static potential between the grids may be adjusted. The incoming image currents are supplied to the primary of the transformer 15. The grids are mounted close to the screen, and the grid 8 may be arranged outside the tube.
