Abstract
648,118. Cathode-ray tubes. TOWNSEND, F. H., and CATHODEON, Ltd. Nov. 25, 1948, No. 30660. [Class 39 (i)] To ensure that the beam from the electron gun 5-7 passes centrally through the field produced by the deflection coil yoke 10 so as to avoid raster distortions, a diaphragm 13 having a small, accurately-located central aperture 14 is positioned in the tube neck 2 between the focussing and deflecting coils 9, 10, and the electron gun is arranged to produce a widelydivergent beam 12 which is made convergent by the coil 9, the aperture 14 permitting the passage only of that portion of the beam which is coaxial with the tube. The invention is shown applied to a television-receiving tube.
