[Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In a short-wave dynatron oscillation generator, the grid at a high positive potential is screened from electrons flowing from the cathode by a screening electrode preferably at a negative potential. As shown, the screening electrode or grid consists of trough-shaped bars 8 of semicircular, U- or V-cross-section, the open ends being turned towards the wires or bars of the positive grid 3. The anode 5 is at a lower positive potential than the grid 3, and is connected with it through an oscillatory circuit 6, 7. The electrodes are arranged concentrically, the cathode filaments being mounted in the gaps between the bars of the screening grid. An alternating potential in phase with that of the positive grid may be applied to the screening grid, for example, by means of a parallel wire circuit between the screening grid and the cathode, and a similar circuit may be connected between the positive grid and the cathode.
