Abstract
534,005. Metal-vapour converters. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 18, 1939, No. 32406. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] In a converting arrangement employing discharge devices 8 ... 13 containing an ionizable medium and controlled by cathode-immersed ignition electrodes 16, deionization at the end of each conducting period is effected by providing adjacent the anode of each valve a perforated auxiliary electrode 17 which is connected to the corresponding anode through a resistance 24. Thus positive ions are prevented from bombarding the anode when it becomes negative and are caused to expend their energy in the resistance 24.
