Abstract

361,351. Valve amplifying circuits. GRAHAM AMPLION, Ltd. and HODGSON, A. D'A., St. Andrew's Works, Slough, Buckinghamshire. Aug. 15,1930, No. 24496. [Class 40 (v).] In a wireless receiving circuit using a valve 10, Fig. 3, with at least five electrodes, one 14 of the electrodes, additional to the usual cathode 11, control grid 12, and anode 15, is connected to a feed-back circuit 24 to provide reaction with the input circuit 16, 17. The electrode 14 is a grid and is positively biased at 35 to serve as an auxiliary anode for highfrequency reaction, and a screening-grid 13 between it and the cathode is connected to the latter through a condenser 23 of low impedance to highfrequency currents. The screening-grid is given a positive potential by connecting it to a tapping 22 on the source of power supplied to the anode, and is coupled to anode circuit 25 to provide lowfrequency reaction. The grid 13 may be used for high-frequency reaction, the grid 14 for screening, and a condenser of low impedance to high-frequency currents connected between the anode and cathode, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a super-regenerative receiver. Fig. 4, the circuit of the grid 13 comprises a high-frequency reaction coil 24 and a circuit 29, 30 tuned to the supersonic frequency, the grid 14 is connected to the cathode, and the anode circuit comprises a supersonic-frequency reaction coil 31, and a filter 32, 33, 34 to byepass the supersonic frequency from the output 25.
