Abstract

367,978. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.- (Assignees of Hansell, C. W. ; Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) Jan. 1, 1931, No. 75. Convention date, Jan. 3, 1930. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] An oscillation generator comprises a regeneratively connected valve of the type whose input electrodes deflect the electron stream, the input and output circuits being tuned to the frequency of the oscillations which is stabilized by coupling to a sharply tuned transmission line on which waves are set up. The valve which is of the type described in Specification 360,630 comprises a hot cathode 1, electron-deflecting input electrodes 13, 13<1>, a screening grid 10 in metallic connection with a screen 14 and anodes 9, 9<1>. A negative potential applied to the tubular portion 22 of the envelope concentrates the electron stream. The anodes 9, 91 are connected in push-pull to a tuned circuit 21, Fig. 1, coupled to another tuned circuit 31, 53, the oscillation frequency being stabilized by an adjustable Lecher wire system 50, 51, 52, a piezo-crystal or magneto-strictive device 41 being optionally connected in parallel with the coil 31. In a modification, Fig. 2, magnetic regeneration is dispensed with and the input and output tuned circuits 31, 53 and 20<1>, 21 respectively are coupled by a long aperiodic, impedance matched line 50, 51 connected to suitable tappings on the coils 31, 20<1>. The condensers 56, 57 in the line keep the plate voltage off the control electrodes. An impedance R corresponding to the surge impedance of the line 50, 51 terminates the line and is shunted by a radio-frequency byepass condenser 60.
