Abstract

516,647. Automatic tuning correction. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. July 4, 1938, No. 19737. Convention date, July 3, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] The local-oscillator circuit of a super-heterodyne receiver comprises a tank circuit 15... 17 connected to the oscillator anode 9 and a coil 19 coupled to coil 15 and connected through an impedance 20, 22 to the oscillator grid 8, an automatic-frequencycontrol voltage being applied to the grid 8 and serving to alter the effective reactance of the tank circuit. The A.F.C. voltage is applied through a choke 24<1> which may be of such a value that with the gridcathode capacity of the local oscillator it is resonant at a frequency adjacent the lowfrequency end of the frequency range of the oscillator. The control potential is derived from resistances 103, 104 having a low impedance for direct current, these resistances being connected in the circuit of the intermediate frequency amplifier 102 which acts also as an amplifier for the A.F.C. control voltage produced by a double diode 40 connected as described in Specification 493,511. Suitable values of valve potentials, resistances, capacities &c. are given in the Specification. Specification 497,798 also is referred to.
