Abstract

466,854. Valve circuits for wireless reception. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 4, 1935, No. 33664. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1934. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver the local oscillator is inoperative except when tuned accurately to the tinput signal. The Figure shows a frequency changer 34 the local oscillation to which is supplied from a second frequency changer 38 by combining the signal with intermediate frequency energy from the output of the frequency changer 34. The frequency changers 34, 38 are of the two control grid type and the coupling 23, 24, 25 is tuned to the sum or difference frequency and preferably ganged with the tuning means of the input circuit. The range through which local oscillations is generated may be adjusted by varying the mutual conductance of the valve 38 as by varying the screen potential.
