Abstract

450,247. Valve circuits for wireless reception. RADIOAKT. - GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, Berlin. Dec. 12, 1934, No. 35660. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1933. [Class 40 (v)] In a receiver employing a tight back-coupling self oscillation is prevented by causing the receiving valve to oscillate at a frequency higher than that at which the back-coupling is effected. Fig. 1 shows a frequency changer 1 in which the intermediate frequency circuit 7, 8 is back-coupled and the local oscillator circuit 4, 5 serves to prevent self oscillation at the intermediate frequency. Radiation of the local oscillation is prevented by the balancing condenser 20. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a similar double valve is employed and the grid 3 is associated with an oscillating circuit and a circuit tuned to the signal. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which a pair of valves 22, 23 oscillate in parallel at the frequency of circuit 27, 28. The signal is applied to the valves in push-pull from an aerial 41 while the intermediate frequency circuit 24, 25 is backcoupled by condensers 31, 32. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the signal is applied to the pair of valves in phase and the local oscillation is in push-pull and chokes are provided to keep the impedance of the circuit of the anodes high at this frequency. The amount of backcoupling at the intermediate frequency may be adjustable to vary selectivity, the consequent volume variation being prevented by the automatic volume control.
