501,890. Valve circuits for wireless reception. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 7, 1938, No. 20194. Convention date, July 10, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] Ultra-short waves are rectified by applying them to the anode 3 of a valve having at least two grids, the anode being at negative or slightly-positive potential, one grid 5 being connected to the cathode through a circuit 11, 12 presenting a high-impedance to the rectified oscillations, and a second grid 4 between the first grid and the anode being positively biassed. The rectified signals may be taken off from resistance 11 through a coupling condenser 13 or may be amplified by elements 4 .. 6 and taken off from grid 4. The invention may be applied to the mixing tube of a superheterodyne receiver, Fig. 4, the signal and local oscillation frequencies being supplied through tuned circuits 16, 17, in the anode circuit, and a tuned circuit 18 tuned to the intermediate frequency being connected between grid 5 and the cathode. Alternatively, one of the circuits 16, 17 may be connected to grid 5 in series with circuit 18.
