493,757. Superheterodyne circuits for wireless reception. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. June 11, 1938, No. 17413. Convention date, June 14, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver for shortwave reception comprising a mixing valve having an input control grid 13, an oscillator control grid 30 between the input control grid and the cathode, and a positively-biassed grid 33 between the two control grids, the occurrence of oscillations of local-oscillator frequency at the input control grid is prevented or minimized by a series or parallel connection of resistance and capacity between the two control grids. In the arrangement shown, which provides wave-band switching for alternate reception on long and short waves and has a separate local oscillator 16, a resistance 38 and condenser 37 are connected in parallel between grids 13, 30. Since for long waves the condenser 37 alone is sufficient and the resistance 38 would act as a substantial shortcircuit to the condenser, the resistance is cut out during long-wave reception by a switch 39 coupled to the wave-band switches. Another arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises an octode embodying the local oscillator and a series connection of a resistance and condenser across the two control grids.
