Abstract

413,724. Valve circuits for wireless reception. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, McAINSH, N. J., and SHARP, S., c/o General Electric Co., Stoke, Coventry. Jan. 16, 1933, No. 1401. [Class 40 (v).] In a superheterodyne receiver, the circuit L2, C2 in which the local oscillations are generated is inductively coupled both to an inductance L3, connected between the cathode of the detector valve and one end of the tuned input circuit L1, C1, and to an inductance L4 connected in series with a condenser C4 across the circuit L1, C1. The impedance of the inductance L3 is small compared with the grid-cathode impedance C3 of the valve. A resistance may be connected in series, or parallel with the condenser C4 to adjust the power factor of the circuit L4, C4. The values of L3, C3, L4, C4 are so chosen that these form a balanced-bridge, the input circuit, L1, C2 constituting a diagonal of the bridge thus preventing radiation of the local oscillations. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to U.S.A. Specification 1,820,809.
