Abstract

485,438. Thermionic valves. HELBIG, A. Aug. 13, 1937, No. 22318. [Class 39 (i)] In an ultra-short wave generator with a cylindrically - arranged anode and a magnetic field transverse to the paths of the etectrons between the cathode and the anode, the cathode is placed outside the space enclosed by the anode. In the arrangement shown, the anode is formed of segments 1, 2 connected to the leads 3, 4 of a Lecher system. The cathode 5 consists of a non - inductively wound spiral outside one end of the anode ; a second cathode may be placed at the other end. Guard plates 8, at the potential of the cathode, screen the envelope from stray electrons.
