Abstract

573,587 . Discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 3, 1943, No. 20235. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] A discharge apparatus such as an X-ray generator comprises a sealed envelope 11 containing an anode 13, and a cathode 19 for X-ray generation and transformer means 25 within the envelope to supply this cathode and anode. The transformer is associated with a triode oscillator formed of an anode 65, grid 37 and cathode 33 also enclosed in the envelope. The anode 65 is a metal frame which serves to support the coils of the transformer, each of which is connected at the supported end to anode 65. A metal shell 73 forms a mechanical and electrical connection for the X-ray anode 13 with the secondary 29 of the transformer.
