Abstract

491,663. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BELL, D. A. March 6, 1937, No. 6723. [Class 40 (v)] A valve generator, in which the frequency is not substantially varied by changes in the supply voltages, the ageing of the valve, or the production of harmonics, has a high degree of regenerative coupling (condenser 4) between the tuned anode circuit and the grid, and resistive means 16 in the anode circuit for producing a degree of negative feed-back, the resistive means being connected between a tapping on the tuned-circuit inductance 7 and the anode battery 14 and at the end adjacent the battery to a point at cathode potential as regards the oscillation frequency. If the resistance contains distributed capacity, this is neutralized by a series inductance, and where there is distributed inductance, a network having two parallel branches one containing resistance and capacity and the other resistance and inductance may be used, the whole being purely resistive. The coupling between the anode and grid may be so chosen that the effects of space charge variations in the valve upon the frequency substantially cancel out. Actual examples are given showing the frequency stability obtained for particular values of the circuit elements.
