Abstract

[Class 135] A gas plug-cock has a handle 1 fixed to a spindle 23 provided with a single key 24, which, in the closed position of the cock, is pressed by a spring 5 into engagement with a recess in a front cover-plate 21 of the cock to prevent actuation of the cock, and which, when the handle is pushed inwardly, is moved from engagement with the recess into engagement with a slot in the plug to permit rotation of the latter. In Fig. 2a, which shows the housing and plug with the front cover-plate removed, and in Fig. 2b which shows the front coverplate, together with the spindle 23, the parts are shown corresponding to the closed position of the cock, the key 24 engaging with the recess 34 in the cover-plate and being in a position to engage the slot 25 in the plug when depressed. A boss 31 on the cover-plate, cut away over approximately 90 degrees, provides stops for the key 24, and also locates the coverplate on the housing. A keyway 35, extending through the cover-plate, facilitates assembly.
