[Also in Division E2] The shank 12 of a door handle 11 extends through an aperture 13 in a rose plate 10 and is secured thereto by a projection 14 in the aperture 13, the projection 14 being located in a part annular recess 17 in the shank 12, so that the handle 11 is prevented from becoming detached during its rotation, e.g. through about 70 degrees, in normal operation and the projection 14 being movable between two positions whereby orientation of the handle 11 with respect to the rose plate 10 can be altered through 90 degrees. A pair of projections may be provided on a ring insert 15 mounted for 90 degrees rotation in a recess 18 in the rose plate 10, the handle shank 12 having flats 16 allowing it to pass the projections 14 prior to rotation so the projections 14 engage in the part annular recesses 17, The ring 15 carries an integral lever (Fig. 1, not shown) which is lockable by a cover for the rose plate in either of two positions corresponding to the limits of the 90 degrees rotation of the ring 15.
