Abstract

683,445. Handles for bolt or like fastenings. ROE & CO., Ltd., A. V., and MEADOWCROFT, S. Sept. 17, 1951 [Oct. 26, 1950], No. 26101/50. Class 44 A locking mechanism, particularly for doors of aircraft, has an outside handle 1, which normally lies in a recess 3 which prevents turning of the handle and is fixed to a spring-loaded plunger 6 slidable but not rotatable within the operating spindle 7 of the mechanism, and an inside handle 8 secured to the spindle 7 and provided with a spring loaded lever 9, one end of which bears on plunger 6 so that by operation of lever 9 the outside handle 1 can be moved out of its recess and the spindle 7 turned. A rubber or like seal 3 is provided round the periphery of handle 1, and a finger grip 5 allows it to be pulled out for operation from outside. The spindle 7 carries a disc 15 to which are pivoted plungers 16 connected to locking bars.
