[Class 44] A plunger 2 carrying a roller 1 and loaded by a light compression spring 3 is mounted in the door jamb and engages a keeper or recess in the door 11, the rotational centre of the roller passing the opening in the recess so as to lock the door; means operated by the handle or handles are provided to move the roller out of its looking position for release. In the form shown the release means comprises a camming member 7, secured to an arm 8 pivoted at 9 and actuated by axial movement of either handle 14 through a collar 12 on the spindle 13.
