561,538. Door &c. fastenings. YOUNG, L. W. Aug. 21, 1942, No. 13295/41. [Class 44] In a fastening for doors &c. of the kind in which a bolt-like projection 6 fixed to the door enters laterally into a slot 11 in a pivoted member 8 and rocks it to fastening position in which it is secured by a catch, the catch engages the side of the slot 11 at such an angle, as to urge the pivoted member towards locking position. As shown, the fastening comprises a slotted disc 8 eccentrically pivoted at 9 in a recess in a casing 4, the walls of the recess limiting the movement of member 8 in both directions. A spring 10 biases member 8 anticlockwise towards the position in which the mouth of slot 11 registers with a slot 5 in the casing and entry of the bolt 6 rocks member 8 to the fastening position shown in which a sliding catch 12, shot by spring 14 and releasable by pivoted handle lever 15, 17, engages in slot 11. The angle of contact between the edge 12A of the catch, and the edge of slot 11, is preferably approximately 10‹. Springs 10, 14 may be replaced by a single spring.
