[Class 44] A door fastening comprises a latch a loaded by a spring c and actuated by a lever e, connected to an outside handle, and a lever f, connected to an inside lever g by a link h. The latch a has a notch m that can be engaged by a spring-loaded catch k when the latch is withdrawn. When the door is closed, a catch-release n is moved by engagement with the striking plate d and an inclined surface o, contacting a similar surface on the catch k, withdraws the catch and releases the latch. The striking plate d is in two parts d<1>, d2 connected by a screw s passing through a slot t, in the part d<2>, to engage a nut u. The part d<1> is adjustable on part d2 and the engaging surfaces are serrated.
