Abstract
615,261. Door locks. INGERSOLL, Ltd., YOUNG, L. W., and TAYLOR, J. W. June 5, 1946, No. 17091. [Class 44] A lock comprises a casing 1, a slidable bevelled spring bolt 3 having a spring 4, a dead bolt 6, slidable in the casing and interconnected with the spring bolt 3 by an operating cam 8 so as to be shot automatically when the door is closed (as shown) and a door handle inside and a key-operated mechanism outside for withdrawing the dead bolt. The operating cam 8 acts on the dead-bolt through faces 21 and 14, the latter being provided with a series of steps for engagement with the nose 13 of the cam to prevent forcing back of the dead-bolt. When the door is opened, the end 9 of the spring bolt engages the part 10 of the cam and maintains the dead-bolt withdrawn, the spring 4 being stronger than the spring 7. The cam 8 may be operated by a key from the outside or by an inside handle having a part 19 acting through the lever 15. A locking cam 22 coaxial with the cam 8 is movable by reverse rotation of the key to a position as shown in which it abuts a part 24 of the bolt and prevents its withdrawal by the inside handle. A fingeroperated cam 25 may be moved to block the operating cam 8 and retain the dead-bolt in its withdrawn position.
