Abstract

686,511. Door locks. WORRALL & SON, Ltd., G. June 12, 1951, No. 13934/51. Class 44. In a door lock of the kind having vertically reciprocable rack bolts 3, 3a connected to move with a horizontally reciprocable dead bolt 4, a key-lock bolt 12 is arranged to be positioned in the path of an abutment 10 on one of the rack bolts 3 to lock the bolts 3, 3a, 4 in the projected position. The bolts 3, 3a, 4 are interconnected and operated by a 'T' shaped follower member 5 mounted on the spindle 6 of a handle. The abutment comprises a flange 10 formed on a web 9 integral with the rack bolt 3, the key-lock bolt 12 having a flange 13 adapted in the unlocking position to lie between the flange 10 and the body of the bolt 3 as shown in Fig. 3. The key-lock bolt 12 is moved to the right into the engaging position in which the flange 13 abuts the end of the flange 10 preventing retraction of the inter-connected bolts. A blade-spring 7 engages in notches 8 in the bolt 3 yieldingly to retain the inter-connected bolts in the projected or withdrawn position. A latch bolt 14 operable by a follower 15 is blocked in the projected position by the abutment 10 when the bolts 3, 3a, 4 are shot. The keylock body 11 is secured to the casing 1 by spigots 17 and screws 18 so that the lock may be adapted for a left-hand door by turning it upside down and inverting the key-lock, a key hole 19 being formed in the face plate.
