Abstract

831,723. Door fastenings: locks. CONSTRUCTORS Ltd., and BEAVIS, J. R. April 23, 1958 [April 23, 1957], No. 12855/57. Class 44 Relates to cabinets of the kind comprising a rigid frame 10, at least the front of which is provided with doors 12, 13, arranged to slide one behind the other in horizontal guides of the cabinet frame. According to the invention, the meeting or overlapping corners of the sliding doors are formed with alike notches or cut-away parts 14, 15 which in the closed position of the doors combine to provide a bolt cavity, and the frame of the cavity is provided with a key-operated locking bolt 16 which when operated into the locking position is shot into the bolt cavity and serves to resist opening movement of the doors. As shown in Fig. 3, the bolt is movable into shot and releasable positions by means of a cylinder 23 rotatable by a key insertable on a spindle 24, the ball having thereon a. peg 20 which is entrained in a helix 22 on the cylinder 23. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, the bolt is connected through a link 27, mounted on a pivot 31, to a spring-loaded plunger 28, the forward end of which is connected to the key spindle 24.
