Abstract

1,172,476. Bolt fastenings. M. H. RUMBLE. 24 Feb., 1968, No. 9054/68. Heading E2A. A bolt member for securing an openable member such as a door, window or drawer to a stationary structure comprises a slidable bolt 3 having a longitudinally extending undercut groove 4 in one face thereof a pair of blocks 1, 2 of transverse cross section complementary to that of the groove and arranged to be secured in end to end alignment to the openable member and to said stationary structure respectively, with sufficient clearance between said blocks to permit the openable member to be opened or closed, the bolt being held on one of the blocks by engagement of the block in the groove and being slidable along said one block until it is in engagement with both blocks thereby to secure the openable member in its closed position. In the construction shown each block has a stop 5, 6 engageable with the bolt to limit the movement of the bolt between the extreme releasing and fastening position, the bolt being provided with corresponding recesses in the wall of the groove. A spring urged ball 9 is provided either in a recess in the block 2 or in the bolt to prevent it wobbling on the blocks.
