Abstract

1,263,256. Latches. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. 1 July, 1969 [2 July, 1968], No. 31516/68. Heading E2A. A vehicle bonnet latch assembly comprises a slidable main latch bolt 3 and, over this, a safety latch bolt 4 pivoted at 15, both being spring loaded to the fastening position behind the head 6 of keeper 5. The main latch bolt 3 slides in the body of the unit, is loaded by spring 20, has a flange 26 engaging the head of the keeper, and is released by cable 30. The safety latch bolt is loaded by spring 20 through a block 19 in which there is a slot 23 accommodating a pin 24 on the main bolt with lost motion, to provide an interlock between the two bolts.
