A bonnet latch comprising a keeper 11 engageable in an opening 13 in a slidable plate 14 as described in Specification 879,474 is characterized by a safety hook 26 pivoted at 27 and having a member 29 depending through a slot 17 in the slidable plate 14 and arranged so that upon operation of either a remote control 22 or a finger control to move the plate the keeper is first released and then on further movement of the plate the safety hook is released.
