Abstract

996,223. Latches. BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO. Ltd. April 13, 1964 [April 18, 1963], No. 15251/63. Heading E2A. A bonnet latch comprises a latch member 5 pivoted on a base member 4 for angular movement against spring loading and adapted to extend from the base member for engagement with a keeper 8 on the bonnet, and a compression spring 16 surrounding the latch member 5 and extending from the base member, the spring being compressed when the bonnet is closed and initiating opening movement of the bonnet when the latch member is disengaged from the keeper. As shown, an actuating arm 11, operable from within the vehicle and pivoted on the pivot pin 9 of the latch member co-operates with an extension 10 of the latch member. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the extremity of the extension 10 is cranked. The actuating arm may be integral with the latch member.
