Abstract

953,264. Door latches. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. June 6, 1962 [June 9, 1961; Sept. 13, 1961], No. 17810/62. Addition to 878,246. Heading E2A. A lock mechanism as in the parent Specification is modified in that the external locking means comprises a pivoted locking] lever 62 which is rotated e.g. by a key in a clockwise manner causing the link 48 to move a bushing 44 so that it is free to move upwardly in the slot 43 of the pivoted detent lever 38. Thus on actuation of an external button to rotate a bell crank lever 57 the bushing 44 which is on the end of connecting rod 56 is ineffective to rotate the detent lever 38 to release the latch. The lever 62 may also be operated by internal means. In a further modification, see Fig. 6, the link 48 is omitted and the locking lever 162 is provided with a curved slot 165 which overrides the slot 42 of the detent 38.
