A fixed door handle 10 for a motor vehicle, incorporates a press button device for actuating a door latch, wherein the manipulated, outer, part 13<SP>1</SP> of a press button 13 guided in the handle has a cross-section which is smaller than the cross-section or mean cross-section of an intermediate part 13<SP>11</SP> which, in the position of rest of the button, is located in a ring 15 in the housing 11. As shown the part 13<SP>11</SP> is cylindrical but it can be frusto-conical with the narrow end joining the part 13<SP>1</SP>. The ring 15 and the button are shaped to provide line contact between them.
